Join Accredited Lecturer Julian Richards as he explores the celebration of light and life at Stonehenge and reflects on the significance of sunlight for prehistoric humans as a mark of the passage of time.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Our Societies support hundreds of local arts and heritage projects. Each day we highlight a grant given in 2021.
The Art Society Blackheath has awarded a grant to Age Exchange, a hub of community activities specialising in reminiscence based intergenerational arts projects for people living with dementia, loneliness and isolation.
All donations from the Artvent Calendar will go towards The Arts Society’s grant giving fund, which awards grants to help preserve our artistic heritage, support the skills of artists and makers, and improve access to the arts for all.

Fascinating. And the days get longer from now!
Thank you - an apt and encouraging talk on this the shortest day of the year. We have many dark days ahead of us and need to hold on to the positive thought that the sun will return, bringing growth and good health to us all.
Thank you - but I was hoping you would finish your piece with a short clip of the sun setting at the winter solstice to show us the phenomenon you described.
Thank you Julian for explaining this wonderful structure, having visited this myself, it is fascinating to understand its meaning and the power of the sun on our lives.
So relevant for today. Julian really brings home that feeling of everything standing still for a day or two before the rapid return of the light.
Just what we need in this crazy world 🌎 ☀️.
Thank you Julien an interesting insight into the life and beliefs of people at that time
It's all been good - Thanks!

Thankyou
