Today, Accredited Lecturer Leslie Primo puts the spotlight on Giotto's Adoration of the Magi and explores how the artist humanised one of the most famous stories from the Bible through his depiction of the three wise men.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Our Societies support hundreds of local arts and heritage projects. Each day we highlight a grant given in 2021.
The Arts Society West Essex has recently awarded a grant to Revitalize, a national charity providing respite care for disabled people. The funds will go towards activities including pottery classes, arts and craft sessions, flower arranging and theatre trips.
All donations from the Artvent Calendar will go towards The Arts Society’s grant giving fund, which awards grants to help preserve our artistic heritage, support the skills of artists and makers, and improve access to the arts for all.

I will look at this painting in the future with far more awareness of what is depicted. Thank you.
Thank you Leslie for your talk on Giotto’s Adoration of the Magi- it was insightful.
I look at this depiction in a totally refreshed light, having always thought of Giotto as rather stiff and austere. Not at all, I now realise! Thank you so much for a fascinating discourse. [ and I particularly like the eastern sheep - and goat ]
Thank you for a lovely start to my day

Thank you Leslie Primo for such an excellent presentation of Giotto's works of art. I have placed the visit of the Scrovegni Chapel on top of my bucket list.
