Rabindranath Tagore - Light

Winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913, Rabindranath Tagore was an Indian polymath – poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer and painter. He was a fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society. He reshaped Bengali literature and music as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Rabindranath Tagore's writing is deeply rooted in both Indian and Western learning traditions. Rabindranath Tagore originally wrote in Bengali, but later reached a broad audience in the West after recasting his poetry in English. In contrast to the frenzied life in the West, his poetry was felt to convey the peace of the soul in harmony with nature. Today's gift is his poem "Light", read by Accredited Lecturer Karin Fernald

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Our Societies support hundreds of local arts and heritage projects. Each day we highlight a grant given in 2021.

The Arts Society based in The Hague, Netherlands have awarded a grant to Le Nuove Musiche Music Ensemble. The grant will benefit a project aimed at promoting knowledge about 17th century Baroque music in England with two performances by young music students in venues located around The Hague.

All donations from the Artvent Calendar will go towards The Arts Society’s grant giving fund, which awards grants to help preserve our artistic heritage, support the skills of artists and makers, and improve access to the arts for all.

A very good idea - thank you!
I enjoyed the poem but am no expert.
I wonder if the music-scape added very much,if anything? My reaction was to worry if I was missing anything in the words; so I probably did.
