Gold

Gold - named in Latin after the first light of the day - is associated with the festive season. It reappears throughout this Artvent calendar as a material used widely not just for its material value but as a symbolic element that reflects light and brightens interiors. Today we take a look brief look at gold in art with Accredited Lecturer Alexandra Epps.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Our Societies support hundreds of local arts and heritage projects. Each day we highlight a grant given in 2021.

We Can Dance, which provides dance lessons for children with learning difficulties in the North East, was recently awarded a grant from The Arts Society Wensleydale. The dance lessons bring music and movement to young people with special educational needs, autism, physical disabilities, sensory impairment and behavioral difficulties.

All donations from the Artvent Calendar will go towards The Arts Society’s grant giving fund, which awards grants to help preserve our artistic heritage, support the skills of artists and makers, and improve access to the arts for all.

Golden - thank you

I loved the poem Light by Rabindranath Tagore and today's concise talk about gold.
ARTVENT, what a wonderful idea. I become a child again, curious to open a small door every day, wondering what the next talk or image will be about.
I loved the Rockwell images and talk too, maybe a little shorter?.
From Belgium a merry Christmas to you all.

What a wonderful way to include works of art to illustrate the subject of gold, an impressive explanation.

No Carolyn. See the catch up button.
They've all been wonderful and I particularly loved the Rockwell images. Almost photographic but with those twists of insight.
Merry ever.

Just catching up with my emails.
When I clicked on Day 3. I got Day 4.
Looks like if you are slow in opening and the next day is already posted you miss out on the previous day. Correct?
