The most beloved American illustrator of the 20th century always portrayed life as he wished it would be. And so it was that Norman Rockwell was most at home portraying the ideal family Christmas often with direct connections to Dickens and the English Yuletide Tradition. A bounty of Christmas posters, magazine covers, cards and even Norman Rockwell Christmas gifts will keep you entertained throughout. Your American-born Accredited Lecturer Charles Harris shares his own experiences of the ideal American Christmas from sleigh rides and ice-skating in the woods to trimming the tree and wondering how Santa got down the chimney. Light and lively Christmas fare!

A terrific presentation,as always by Charles Harris. Clear, concise, informative, great images.
Our box of cornflakes, with the painting by Norman Rockwell on the front is probably the only item of Rockwell's art that I can afford, more's the pity
I loved your presentation Charles. I have fallen in love with Norman Rockwell's work thanks to you. They are fabulous.
What a lovely prelude to Christmas! Many thanks to Charles Harris for his lovely talk on Norman Rockwell.
I do ove Norman Rockwell! Instantaly recgnisable, and so wonderful to see all these |Christmas- themed paintings and posters, from so early in his work career.
I was fortunate to see many beautiful paintings of his in the Massuchusetts Art Gallery on a trip there some years ago.
Yes, he may have gone out of fashion as being a bit idealistic and moralistic, but the painting of the famous standoff of the accompanying of Ruby Bridges to school by the guards during segregation times shows that he is also liberal and political when necessary.
A revelation. Thank you for revealing that sensitive and beautiful
What a beautiful telling of Christmas from an angle not normally familiar to us here in the U.K. I smiled throughout - and yes, those were simpler and probably far happier days. A beautiful story beautifully told. Thank you.
what a wonderful introduction to this clever artist who I will research. Cinnamon Carrots are also a new idea for me...Thank you
Wonderful nostalgic lecture, bought back memories of happy carefree days. Thanks
Thank you for introducing me to Norman Rockwell! A brilliant presentation on a charming subject - made me nostalgic for childhood Christmas' s in the 50s. Some of his later paintings were amazing in their detail.
